Find’M is a modern, gay horror anthology by author Simon Graves. That might sound self-explanatory enough, but I mean modern modern. As in, the entire antho is based around a fictional app for gay men searching for dates and/or casual sex. Yup. It’s Grindr gone horror.
As I’ve said before, such apps and websites are popular not only with the general population, but extremely so within the gay community. Very, very few of us can claim we don’t have such things on our phones right now, or have never before. I suppose that’s why the stories in Find’M work and are fun to devour; they’re easily relatable to gay horror freaks like myself who already know just how scary setting up a hookup can be!
A great thing is how different all the stories inside are. With a single plot device (the app, Find’M) I expected a sense of familiarity to arrive in the later tales, but that didn’t happen. Graves instead was smart enough to make sure we got a nice range of stories in the book, ranging from demons to slashers to werewolves. One of my favorites was the gay retelling of a “lover’s lane” urban legend.
Most of the stories are short enough to read on work breaks or short bus rides, as I did, making the book easy to eat up. There were a few instances when I felt like some of the stories felt rushed, but it mostly worked in favor of the tales.
All in all, do yourself a solid and check some of his work out. I became an instant fan and I’m sure you will too.
Are you lonesome tonight? Never fear, the trusty dating app FIND’M is right there at your fingertips, promising a night of no strings attached fun with a handsome stranger. Beware though, the price for the anonymity that comes with the ease of hooking up with the online app could very well be your life.
This collection of dark stories will make you stop, think and proceed with caution before using any type of dating app again! These twelve original and horrifying stories are equal parts intriguing and frightening while remaining cohesive to the overall feel of the dark side of the online dating world. The writing was extremely descriptive from the killer in the park tearing into his unsuspectingly willing victim’s flesh, to the torn lover that lures men to his home to feed his lovers insatiable appetite.
While each part is super short, Graves did a great job of setting the stage appropriately for each story individually and then tying them all together with the common thread, the FIND’M dating app. I caution reading any of these stories in the dark, or just before bed, or if you yourself use an online dating app. But I do recommend this book especially for fans of creepy, suspenseful, horror stories.

I was enjoying FIND'M so much that I had to put it down because I was afraid I'd finish it in one sitting! The stories are tense, spooky and fun!!
Graves has written a wonderful short story that keeps up the tension. The mix of haunting images and sounds with the normalcy of meeting someone for the first time was amazing.
The characters seem very real and add to the story. The location is mixed well into the story so that I could feel like I was there.
I’m looking forward to reading more by Graves as he seems to be a first rate up and coming author.
